10 of the best selfie postcards!

In February, we invited our app users to take part in a challenge, and brighten someone’s day by sending a selfie postcard.

Hundreds of selfie postcards were sent all over the planet, but a small number really caught our eye.

We collected together 10 of our hand-picked favourites and got in touch with the postcard senders to ask them a couple of questions!

Franziska from Germany

It was hard to miss the big, happy smiles on the front of Franziska’s card!

Franziska and her daughter with sunglasses and hats

Where did you take the photo?

The photo was taken in London.

Who did you send the postcard to?

The postcard was sent to the grandparents.

What was their reaction?

It was a great surprise to them - that was what we wanted it to be ;-) They were really pleased to receive a postcard with a picture of us.

Gillian from Australia (but living in USA)

We were blown away by the phenomenal view that Gillian captured using her selfie stick!

Gillian and a beautiful view of Los Angeles

Where did you take the photo?

It was taken at the top of Runyon Canyon overlooking the city of Los Angeles, one of LA's most hiked trails.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent it to my friend Geoffrey in Australia. I moved to LA late last year so I sometimes use Touchnote to keep in touch with him because the USA postal service is so slow, and Touchnote makes it so easy to personalise.

What was his reaction?

He called me as soon as he received it and asked me straight away what my t-shirt says :) He couldn't quite get the gist of the question "Jealous much?" He was so very chuffed.

Helen from the UK

Who said pet selfies aren’t a thing? Helen took a selfie with her furry friend, which really brought a smile to our faces!

Helen with her cat Merry on her shoulder

Where did you take the photo?

This photo was taken in our kitchen; I spend a big part of the day with our cat Merry on my shoulder.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent the photo to my 2 year old niece.

What was her reaction?

Her reaction was one of complete bemusement!

The Davis Family from the USA

We were thrilled to see the whole family get involved with this selfie, smiles all round!

The Davis family gather around for a selfie together

Where did you take the photo?

We took this photo outside of Lowe's (with three boys we are there a lot!) during a snowstorm.

Who did you send the postcard to?

We sent it to our grandpa.

What was his reaction?

He was thrilled and was shocked we could do all of that from our phones. Hahaha!

Touchnote user from Germany

This work selfie from a postcard sender in scrubs really made us laugh!

Touchnote user in scrubs

Where did you take the photo?

I took the photo in Zürich, Switzerland, where I'm doing an internship in obstetrics and gynecology.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent it to my family in Germany.

What was their reaction?

My Mom called me and asked how I was - and exactly that day I had assisted my first caesarean section, which was wonderful.

Marjie from the USA

We loved that Marjie used her selfie as a part of a brilliant collage, a great momento of her day out!

Marjie and her daughter Heather

Where did you take the photo?

The downtown San Diego waterfront (and out on the bay). We were on a harbor cruise, belatedly celebrating my birthday.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent the postcard to my daughter Heather as a thank you for the excellent day we had together!

What was her reaction?

She said when she got the card she first thought, “Hey I know those people!”, and her next thought was, “What an awesome day!”, and “Now I have something even more awesome to remember it by!”

Alain from Switzerland (but living in Singapore)

We got a twang of jealousy when we saw Alain’s great selfie taken on a beautiful beach!

Alain and his wife on a beach

Where did you take the photo?

Taken in Jervis Bay, Australia.

Who did you send the postcard to?

Sent to the love of my life, my wife.

What was her reaction?

It was a surprise that deeply touched her.

Gillian from the UK

Gillian’s photo really got a massive ‘awww!’ from us, and proves that even the littlest of us can take part in a selfie!

Gillian and baby Ivy take a selfie together

Where did you take the photo?

The photo was taken at home in Suffolk when Ivy woke up in the morning.

Who did you send the postcard to?

The postcard was sent to baby Ivy's Granny.

What was her reaction?

Granny was thrilled and loved the card.

Jonathan from the UK

Who could ignore the view of the coast and the amazing sunny feel of Jonathan’s adventure-filled selfie?

Jonathan and his wife in cycle helmets

Where did you take the photo?

This photo was taken on Westridge Fire Road in the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking Los Angeles in California.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent the postcard to my wife, who is in the photo, but she doesn’t know I’ve sent it to her yet as we haven’t yet got home from our trip.

What was her reaction?

She hasn’t seen it yet but she will when we get home next week, I hope she will love it and that it will be a lovely reminder of our fabulous trip to California.

Tanya from the USA

The snow may be deep, but Tanya has wrapped up warm for this cute selfie!

Tanya and her partner in the snow

Where did you take the photo?

The photo was taken near White Mountains in New Hampshire while we were snowshoeing.

Who did you send the postcard to?

I sent it to my best friend in San Francisco - the north east is breaking records with snow accumulations and cold, while California had the warmest February on record!

What was her reaction?

She loved it! I also wanted to show her the quality of the Touchnote app postcards, which she liked.

We’d like to thank all of our wonderful card senders across the globe for taking part in this challenge. And an extra special thanks to the fantastic users who let us share their cards with you!

Keep an eye out for our next postcard challenge, and you too could be featured on our blog!

Touchnote Christmas Edition on iPad

Posted in

We've recently released our new Touchnote Christmas Edition app for iPhone, and it works perfectly on iPad (it just stretches to fit the screen).

What's new?

It means you get all the latest features from our 5* iPhone app, such as photo collages and customised postcard stamps, and of course our beautiful new Christmas cards.

What's different?

The iPhone update does not offer hand signature on postcards, but has lots more features than the previous iPad app.

If you're running iOS 8, you won't be able to run the previous Touchnote for iPad (it will crash), so you'll need to install the new update or send cards using touchnote.com.

How do I get it on my iPad?

Simply download it here from the App Store.

I have a question!

Please contact our 24 hour support team at help@touchnote.com. We're very helpful.
